In 2016 the State Department declared 36 percent of Americans hold valid passports. This means that nearly 70 percent of Americans are unqualified to travel internationally. After traveling this summer I now understand how important and scary this fact really is. Before I left for two months I remember having a conversation with my mother. I was nervous, she was worried. Neither of my parents have traveled outside the United States. My mom, in a puddle of empty nest syndrome blurted out: "You being unsure makes me unsure! I didn't want you to go in the first place! I never went over there, your father never went over there, I never had the urge I don't see what's so great about it." I love my mother and although this wasn't the most encouraging thing to hear it began a sort of call to action for me. What is so great about traveling to other countries? Is it great at all? The answer later came to me (day 44 to be exact), and it's not great, its hard you get told no a lot and you sometimes have to pay to pee, but more than anything its necessary. I'm not saying that you must travel abroad to be a proper citizen of the United States, I am saying that if you have the means it would be a disservice to yourself as a citizen of this world not to.

This is me. Hi hey hello.
Through this blog I will simply tell some stories of where I went, who I met, and hopefully address some important issues I came across as it relates to our changing international influence.
But mostly I'll share some photos.
Till next time.
